A charity concert was held at the venue amid the tight security; it was for the benefit of those affected by the bombing at an Ariana Grande concert. There were about 14,000 fans at the concert; the families of some of the victims attended the concert.

The security included armed police officers with sniffer dogs. People had to pass through metal detectors and were not even allowed to carry iPads, large bags, and backpacks. Even trauma specialists and mental health professionals had remained present at the venue.
Before the music began, Poet Tony Walsh recited his poem ‘This Is the Place’. Pixie Lott was the first person to perform on the stage. Noel Gallagher played Oasis’s popular hits which included ‘Half the World Away, ‘Wonderwall’and ’Champagne Supernova’. He was in tears when he sang ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’. The crowd at the concert together sang it at a vigil.
Comedian Peter Kay made an appearance along with other local heroes at the concert. He delivered a message of defiance and declared we can’t let terrorists win.
He said to the crowd, ‘The victims will never ever be forgotten, but we’ve got to move forward with love and not hate, and that’s how we win’. Kay had worked as a steward at the Manchester Arena in the 1990s. Later he performed there more than 40 times.
On 22nd May, suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated at Manchester Arena during the Ariana Grande concert on 22 May. After that, the venue was closed. It reopened after three and half months. Read more articles on dailyrewards.
